• Adam Herman intercepted the ball and Groton started out at the Mobridge-Pollock 36 yard line. "We had four defensive turnovers in the second half that got us into good field position," Wanner said. "We had some great plays." Groton went the distance in nine plays and had three first downs on the series as Kurtz scored on a 13 yard run with 2:25 left in the game. Milbrandt kicked the PAT, forcing the Groton cheerleaders to do 35 jumping jacks as Groton ended up winning the game, 35-16.
• "I'm proud with the way our kids came back in the second half," Wanner said. "The kids really responded well."
• Only 22 yards separated the teams in total offense with Groton Area having the upper hand, 244-222. Groton had more first downs, 15-11.
• Groton had 40 carries for 165 yards. Kasey Kurtz had 24 carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns, Jackson Doeden had seven carries for 39 yards and one touchdown, and having one carry each were Dylan Krueger for 10 yards, Reilly Ell for eight yards, Alec Oleson and Jeric Albrecht each had seven yards and Spencer Knecht had four.
