later, Jason Hill caught a 37 yard pass from Mason Keller for a touchdown and Chase Schoenhard kicked the PAT at the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers took a 7-0 lead with 3:40 left in the game. That drive went 99 yards in three plays.
• Groton tried to get the next drive going and even took a fake punt attempt for Kurtz to get a first down. One second and third from the Mobridge-Pollock 49, Groton fumbled the ball.
• Mobridge-Pollock was unable to score on their drive and the first quarter ended with Mobridge-Pollock on top, 7-0.
• The game was not going well for Groton and even Coach Shaun Wanner was getting frustrated. At one point when there was an incomplete pass to Spencer Knecht who was wide open,

Wanner expressed his displeasure with the play. "I was a little tough on Parker," he said. "Sometimes you have to get on them to get them fired up. As a coach, you have to know your kids and how to respond. Parker responded great." Two plays later, Rossow intercepted the ball at the Mobridge-Pollock 34. On second 10 on the second series of a first down, Rossow connected with Jeric Albrecht for a 23-yard touchdown pass. Jacob Milbrandt kicked the PAT and the game was tied at seven with 4:01 left in the half. That series went 34 yards in four plays.
• Mobridge-Pollock started the final drive of the first half on their own 47 yard line.
