Patriot Day - September 11th, 2013

Patriot Day is Wednesday, September 11th 2013. As a mark of respect for those who died during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, President Obama has ordered the flag of the United States to be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions from sunrise until sunset on 09-11-2013.

• Saturday morning while I was at work, Don was cutting down a couple of dead trees in Mom's yard.  He neatly stacked the burnable logs in the yard but loaded the sparse branches on a trailer and once he had a load, he would haul them to the dump.  This was going on all morning and around 11:30 I took a half glance out the store window and noticed a silver pickup that had just pulled up to the door.  It was Don.  He was coming in for a bottle of water.  I was 100% sure of this so when he walked in the door I didn't even turn around to face him and shouted out a great big, incredibly loud, "Hey baby, how's it going?".....it wasn't him.  Shocks to the brain like this shouldn't happen often.  Mine survived but not without embarassment.  I did make a comment about how friendly we are around this place to the customer that had actually walked in the door.  I am now 100% sure that I should never be 100% sure of anything ever again.
• Ann Bailey is the proud great grandma of little Leea Grace Walton Bergland born Friday September 6, 2013. Her parents are Jamie Walton and Dustin Bergland of Jamestown.  Her maternal grand parents are Jim and Carrie Walton of Hecla.  Leea weighed 7lbs 5oz and was 21 1/2 inches long.
• On Saturday, September 7, 2013 a gathering was held in honor of Warren Pierson's birthday at his and Judy's home.  Those in attendance were Jackie Pigott, David, Amy and James Pierson of Claremont and Patrick and Drew Pierson of  Brookings.  They enjoyed grilled steaks for supper and had a very nice evening.
• An incredibly successful Fish Fry Fundraiser was held at the Claremont Legion Hall on Saturday evening, September 7th.  Don and I were in attendance so I can personally say the meal was fantastic.  There were lots of yummy salads and desserts, some delicious homemade buns, melt in your mouth fish and barbequed ribs.
