Groton Boys Soccer Lose two on Saturday

• The GHS Boys soccer team traveled to Sioux Falls on Saturday, Sept. 7 and played two games in temperatures over 90 degrees with just an hour of rest between the end of the first game and warm-ups for the second.    The games were played at the Sioux Falls O'Gorman field with the home team playing the Tigers for the first game and Tea the second.  In the first game, Sioux Falls scored at 27:33 and 3:42 in the first half and in the second half at 20:49 and 7:04 to defeat Groton 4-0.  Bryce Winther was Groton's goalie.  
• In the second game against Tea, Groton came out strong and scored twice in the first half to lead 2-0.  Scoring for Groton at 34:55 was Luca Kother with an assist by Rayce

Harder.  The second goal came at the 23 minute mark with a header by Luca Kother on a free kick outside the box by Jacob Milbrandt.  In the second half, the Tigers, who had already played 120 minutes of soccer on very hot turf in 90 degree temperatures, gave up 6 goals in the final 40 minutes.  Ehkhu Poe scored Groton's only goal of the second half at the 25 minute mark and Tea went on to win 6 to 3.  Groton's goal keeper was Nick Dalchow.
