• I am excited about the expanded responsibilities for CHC in the state's health system. They have proven themselves in delivering high quality health care and helping people understand federal health programs. You can find out more about CHC at their website www.communityhealthcare.net.  I also encourage you to explore the new Health Insurance Marketplace at www.HealthCare.gov.
• I welcome South Dakota's Community Health Centers to their new role in helping the uninsured receive good health coverage under the Affordable Care Act's new Health Insurance Marketplace.

NCUA Report Shows Credit Unions Strong in South Dakota

• Bismarck, ND - The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) recently issued its second quarter report which covers key indicators of credit union financial health and viability.  The latest report shows that credit unions are strong in the state of South Dakota.  While nationally, 73% of federally insured credit unions had positive net income in the first half of 2013, in South Dakota, 89% of credit unions showed positive net income.  The delinquency rate of loans at US credit unions averages 1% - in South Dakota that number was lower at .07% and the net charge-off rate score of .28% earned the state a 6th place ranking nationally.
• This good news is not unexpected as economic conditions have been positive in the state.  South Dakota is currently ranked 2nd in the nation with the low unemployment rate of 3.9% - the only state with lower unemployment is North Dakota, coming in at 3.1%.
• Headquartered in Bismarck, Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) is the trade association serving credit unions in the Dakotas.  CUAD serves 72 credit unions in North and South Dakota, serving over 406,000 members, with assets in excess of $5.1 billion.  For more information about CUAD visit our website at www.cuad.coop
