SD Legislature looks for interns for 2014 session

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Legislature is looking for 22 college students to serve as interns during the 2014 legislative session that starts in January.
• Authorities say the internship program is designed so students can gain a better understanding of government processes while they provide assistance to state lawmakers. Interns help legislative leaders deal with bills, constituent services and other tasks.
• The interns earn college credit for their internships and are paid $4,800 for their work.
• Applications for intern positions must be filed with the Legislative Research Council by Oct. 15.

2 to be inducted into SD Transportation Hall

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Transportation Hall of Honor plans to induct two new members in September.
• Long-time DOT employee Dennis Landguth of Rapid City will be honored Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Ramkota Inn Sioux Falls.
• Former Union County and Minnehaha County Highway Superintendent Bob Meister, of Kalispell, Mont. will be honored Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Ramkota in Rapid City.
• Both banquets are hosted by the Transportation Hall of Honor Committee.
