Grants awarded to help SD law offices fight drugs

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The Chamberlain Police Department and the McCook County Sheriff's Office have been awarded grants to help fight illegal drugs.
• South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says the money comes from the Drug Control Fund, which contains money seized during drug arrests.
• The Chamberlain Police Department is getting $21,500 for a drug dog and related costs to be used in drug investigations.
• The McCook County Sheriff's Office is getting $7,500 for a drug dog.

Brookings still on map but weather info isn't

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Brookings still shows up on the weather map, but viewers have to look elsewhere for the temperature and other conditions.
• The Brookings Register reports the Airport Weather Observing Station has been deactivated because of construction at the Brookings Regional Airport. And the airport manager says it could be out of commission up to a year.
• The Federal Aviation Administration is also upgrading the weather station while it's down.

Farmers Union hosting farm bill rally at fair

• HURON, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Farmers Union is hosting a farm bill rally at the South Dakota State Fair.
• The Saturday afternoon event put on by the Farmers Union and a number of other agricultural groups aims to show the agriculture industry's support of a new farm bill.
• Prior to the rally, fair attendees are invited to the annual Farmer's Share Lunch
