Heat Wave Continues for Parts of Central U.S.

• A ridge of high pressure will bring one more day of oppressive heat across portions of the central U.S. on Saturday, with afternoon high temperatures reaching 90-100F or higher across the central and southern Plains. Heat Advisories are in effect across this region. Relief will arrive by late in the Labor Day weekend, as temperatures fall behind a cold front.
Rest Of Today: Partly sunny. A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Some thunderstorms may be severe. Highs in the mid 80s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon.
