• Miles Semmler scored the third touchdown from three yards out with 10:40 left in the fourth quarter. Dvorak kicked his third PAT. Dvorak also attempted a 48 yard field goal attempt in the game, but the ball veered to the left of the goal posts.
• Groton, now 0-1, will play in the Hub City Bowl on Friday in a 5 p.m. game with Roncalli. "It will be another good test for us," Wanner said. "It will be our conference opener. They, too, are ranked in the top five in the state."
• .Parkston had more first downs, 14-4, more yards rushing, 257-24, and more yards penalized, 110-55. Groton had more yards passing, 52-9.
• In rushing, Groton carried the ball 28 times for 24 yards. Jackson Doeden had 11 carries for 26 yards and Kasey Kurtz had 11 carries for 21 yards. Parkston had 45 carries for 257 yards. Miles Semmler had nine carries for 60 yards, Mitch Hesinger had six carries for 55 yards, Chase Stoebner had eight carries for 41 yards (he suffered an injury in the game and was taken off the field with a four-wheeler), Wes Dvorak
