• The Iowa Department of Public Health issued a statewide advisory for vulnerable populations, including young children and the elderly. Sometimes our natural defense against extreme heat -- sweat -- won't suffice, Dr. Patricia Quinlisk said.
• "Especially when the humidity is high, sweat will not evaporate as quickly, preventing the body from releasing heat quickly," she said.

Changes made in wake of crop insurance confusion

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota's congressional delegation says the federal Risk Management Agency has released new rules for prevented planting insurance for the 2014 crop year.
• The changes come in the wake of confusion for some Upper Midwest farmers over a rule that's aimed at stopping farmers from fraudulently collecting insurance payments on land that typically can't support crops because it's constantly flooded or parched. Some farmers believed they might not be eligible for insurance payments on flooded farmland this spring because of the unclear rule.
• Federal officials say the confusion was caused by farmers misinterpreting some information. But the congressional delegation asked for better direction from the Risk Management Agency.
• Sens. John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp and Rep. Kevin Cramer say the agency has now done that.

Utah man faces sentencing in wind farm fraud

• CASPER, Wyo. (AP) -- A Utah man faces sentencing in federal court for his involvement in defrauding investors of more than $4 million by promoting non-existent wind farm projects in Wyoming and South Dakota.
• Robert Arthur Reed of Salt Lake City has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and conspiracy to launder money.
• Federal prosecutors say Reed was the leader of a group that hired phone solicitors to call people to invest in wind farm projects that were never built.
• U.S. District Judge Scott Skavdahl has set sentencing for Reed for Tuesday afternoon in Casper.
