A warm front will surge northward through the area today and keep hot and humid conditions in place. Highs will range from the mid 90s to around 100 degrees, with heat index values from 100 to 105 degrees over eastern portions of the forecast area. There is a small chance for thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening for extreme northeast South Dakota and west central Minnesota.
