Hot temperatures will spread across the region today along with increasing humidity. High temps will rise into the 90s to around 100 degrees, with heat index values ranging from 100 to 105 degrees from the James River valley to central South Dakota. The hot temperatures are expected to persist for several days as a large upper ridge establishes itself over the central Plains states.
