•  Pastor Elizabeth Johnson talked her experience with the initial interview of which Roy was on the call committee at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She talked about Roy's humor during an interview when she came to Groton nine years ago. She said during the interview, she had the opportunity to ask questions of the committee. "'What do you do for Christmas? How to you celebrate Christmas? What are some of your traditions?' And there was some silence and Roy just said, 'We usually celebrate right around the 25th of December.'" She then talked about the end of the spectrum. The choir had gone to the hospital to sing to Roy. "Usually before we leave, there would be a final blessing, and through his tears, Roy shared 'I have to be the luckiest man in Groton. To have all these people come to me with all their gifts and share them with me. I have to be the luckiest person in Groton.'"
• Roy's funeral will be held today, 10:30 a.m., at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Groton. After the funeral, lunch will be served at the Methodist Church across the street. Roy will be buried at Groton Union Cemetery.

Roy's equipment all lined up in front of his shop. The funeral procession will come up Third Street and past his shop along US 12 on the way to the cemetery.
