Dean of University Center in Rapid City suspended

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- The dean of the University Center in Rapid City has been suspended but officials aren't saying why.
• Officials announced the suspension of Craig Johnson in a short statement on Wednesday, saying the center's daily operations would not be affected but offering no details on the reason for the move.
• Black Hills State University oversees the center. Spokeswoman Kristen Kilmer tells the Rapid City Journal that the school will not release details of the suspension. She says the reason for the statement was to assure students that their education would not be affected.
• Black Hills State Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Rodney Custer declined comment.
• Johnson was named dean in October 2011. Before that he was a vice president at Jefferson Community College in Watertown, N.Y.

SD man sentenced for bank robberies in MN, ND

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A South Dakota man has been sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison for robbing banks in Minnesota and North Dakota.
• Forty-five-year-old William St. John, of Sisseton, pleaded guilty in December to robbing two Twin Cities banks and a Fargo bank in late 2011 and early 2012. He was sentenced in federal court in Minneapolis on Wednesday to 15 years and eight months in prison.
• Authorities say St. John stole more than $11,000 from the three banks.

Prosecutors say case should be dismissed _ for now

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors who accused a man of accepting kickbacks for housing contracts on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation say they want to drop the case but still have the right to refile it if they find more evidence.
• A jury in North Dakota last month found Michael Addington not guilty of accepting a bribe by an agent of an organization receiving federal funds. The panel could not reach a verdict on a conspiracy to commit fraud charge. A judge declared a mistrial.
• The government says it does not intend to retry the case at this time and has
