• Major League Baseball informed the Yankees on Sunday that A-Rod will be suspended for his links to a clinic accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs, the person said, speaking on condition of anonymity because no statement was authorized.
• But the person also said A-Rod will be eligible to play while he appeals the penalty to an arbitrator.

• LONDON (AP) -- For a hamburger that cost more than $300,000, you might expect it to come with fries and a shake.
• But this is no ordinary burger. At a public tasting in London on Monday, scientists will serve up the first-ever hamburger grown in a laboratory from stem cells of cattle.
• Mark Post, whose team at Maastricht University developed the burger after five years of research, hopes making meat in labs could eventually help solve the food crisis and fight climate change.
• Post says success doesn't hinge on science. He says, "for the burger to succeed, it has to look, feel and taste like the real thing."

House Republicans will campaign against Washington this summer, promoting accomplishments

• WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Republicans will take a carefully orchestrated, staunchly anti-Washington campaign to voters this month, blaming President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats for Americans' unhappiness with government.
• "Every day I serve in Congress, I work to fight Washington," says a suggested op-ed in a richly detailed "planning kit" distributed to all 234 House Republicans ahead of the August recess.
