2 SD police departments get grants to fight drugs

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Attorney General Marty Jackley says police departments in two South Dakota cities are receiving money to help in drug investigations.
• The Madison Police Department has been awarded $23,470 to update camera systems in patrol cars
• The Mitchell Police Department is getting $1,200 for a training dummy that will be used to train officers in rescue and hostage situations during drug investigations.
• The attorney general says the money for the awards comes from the Drug Control Fund, which contains money seized during drug arrests.

SD gets grant to train dislocated workers

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation has received a $418,000 federal grant to help train long-term dislocated workers for high-demand occupations.
• State Labor Secretary Pam Roberts says the department refers people to training that will lead to jobs that pay well.
• Long-term dislocated workers are defined as those out of work for at least 27 weeks.
• The department seeks to train people for occupations where there is a high demand for workers. Those include specialty trades, mechanics, sales representatives, truck drivers, first line supervisors, welders, accountants, teachers, information technology workers and engineers.
• Eligible dislocated workers may be placed in on-the-job training, classroom training programs or other approaches that connect them with employers.

ND electric consumers still paying defunct plant

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota customers of Otter Tail Power will continue to foot the bill for a power plant that was never built.
• The Big Stone II electric power plant in northeastern South Dakota was abandoned in 2009 before construction began.
• The Public Service Commission in June 2010 approved a plan to have and Montana-Dakota Utilities and Otter Tail customers in North Dakota pay a share of Big Stone's $13.7 million development costs over three years. The PSC on Tuesday ex
