• One thing Groton had going for them was a great cheering section. The Groton crowd filled most of the bleachers and much of the ground around the field.
• "The crowd is nice," Planteen said. "Its easier to play in and gives (players) more confidence."
• Solid pitching from Madsen didn't hurt any either.
• "This was definitely one of Madsen's better nights of pitching," Kurth said.
• As Groton was the home team for the night, Groton took to the field. Madsen only allowed two hits the first inning. Tabor left both men on the field.
