Groton undefeated going into title game

Defense was the star in Monday night's 5-1, win over Tabor in the American Legion State B Baseball Tournament. Only one more hurdle remains for undefeated Groton to overcome in order to win their first back-to-back State Championship, Vermillion.
• Great plays by the infield (Locke, Rossow and Jorgensen) and amazing catches in the out field (Planteen, Thorson and Knecht) by Groton keep Tabor to only six hits and one run. Groton only had three hits in the game, but Head Coach Travis Kurth was once again able to pull out his bag of tricks

and turn those hits into five runs.
• Dalton Locke  and Drew Planteen took the win in stride as well as their part in it.
• "It was pretty cool," Locke said. "I just did what I had to do."
• "Just trying to help Mason out," Planteen said. "And to get as many outs as possible.
• "Drew (Planteen) had a couple of spectacular catches out there," said Groton winning pitcher Mason Madsen. "And D, well, D (Dalton Locke) is the best first baseman in the state.
