the middle which put Thorson out but brought Planteen in for the run. Madsen stole second base on a pitch to Dalton Locke. Locke's single brought in Stanley for the second run of the inning. Dane Campbell pitched three straight outs to end the inning with Groton leading 2-0.
• Groton had one hit in the second inning, but Parker Rossow was left on the field. Groton's defense went to work in the second inning with

• In the third inning Matt Thorson singled, stole second, got to third on a wild throw and stole home. Groton was now up by three. The Groton defense continued to deny Flandreau any runs and the inning ended, 3-0.
• Groton advanced their lead in the next two inning. Kurtz would receive a walk to first base, move to second on a sacrificial bunt by Rossow and then steal third base. He came home on a single from Planteen. Planteen then stole second and then
