Missouri Valley coaches set to speak about season

• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Coaches in the Missouri Valley Football Conference are ready to talk about a new season.
• The league has scheduled a teleconference with all 10 coaches on Monday morning, following the release of the pre-season poll and pre-season all-conference team.
• North Dakota State is likely to be at the top of the league poll. Coach Craig Bohl's Bison have won back-to-back Football Championship Subdivision titles.
• Other coaches are Dale Lennon of Southern Illinois, Brock Spack of Illinois State, Joe Glenn of South Dakota, John Stiegelmeier of South Dakota State, Mike Sanford of Indiana State, Eric Wolford of Youngstown State, Terry Allen of Missouri State, Bob Nielson of Western Illinois, and Mark Farley of Northern Iowa.
• League commissioner Patty Viverito is also scheduled to speak Monday.

United Tribes International Powwow set in ND

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Hundreds of dancers from around the country and beyond will be in North Dakota in September for the annual United Tribes International Powwow.
• The event is slated for Sept. 5-8 at United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck. The event is in its 44th year.
• Dancers compete for tens of thousands of dollars in prize money. Miss Indian Nations also is crowned.
• The powwow is considered one of North Dakota's premier cultural events. It attracts more than 10,000 people every year.
• This year's featured cultural group is dancers representing the Aztec culture of central Mexico.

Native American summit on health careers scheduled

• RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) -- A Native American summit on careers in health care will be held next month in Rapid City.
• The second annual "Healing Indian Nations Through Research, Education and Outreach" summit will be held on Aug. 13-14.
