Legion remains undefeated in State B

• Groton moved one step closer to winning a back-to-back championship title at the American Legion State B Baseball Tournament in Webster on Saturday when they defeated McCook/Miner, 5-3.
• Groton was designated the home team for the game and took the field with Matt Thorson as the pitcher.
• McCook/Miner was able to get on the scoreboard first with Marshall Miller crossing the home plate on a double by Zach Bies early in the first inning. Groton had two hits in the first inning but left men on the field at the end of the inning.
• Jon Foster would score for McCook/Miner in the third inning. Foster hit a double, then stole third base. He slid home on a controversial call to score the only run in the inning.
• Groton came back to tie up the score in the fourth inning. Jamie Jorgensen was the first batter up for Groton. He hit
