Kurth has worked hard to develop a deep roster of pitchers on the Groton team.
• "Pitching depth is often one of the most important things for a team once they reach the state tournament where the teams that advance will be playing five games in five days," Kurth said. "But you need to develop as much depth as possible. Sometimes, it comes down to whose fourth, fifth or sixth guys are better on the mound.
