Madsen hits first ever home run as Groton beats Webster at State
Reporting by Char Telkamp

• Groton's dream of back to back State Championships survived the first round of the American Legion Baseball State B Tournament Friday night as they slipped past Webster, 4-1.
• As the defending State Champions, Groton entered the State B Tournament with a bit of a target on their backs. But then Groton has become comfortable with that role over the years, as they have won eight titles in the last 36 years: 1976, 1978, 1984, 1990, 1995, 1998, 2000 and 2012.
• Groton started their bid for back to back championships against the host team, Webster by getting on the boards first. Mason Madsen hit a home run in the second inning.
• "It was my first home run ever,"
