Officials say human trafficking occurs in SD

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Officials say people need to be aware that human sex trafficking can happen even in rural states like South Dakota.
• Those officials spoke Friday at a conference sponsored by the University of South Dakota and the Civil Society from St. Paul, Minn.
• South Dakota has recently set up a task force and taken other steps to fight human trafficking.
• University of South Dakota professor Elizabeth Talbot says kids are at risk. She says human trafficking is a problem in South Dakota and the nation.
• Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Koliner says trafficking in the nation is a $9 billion- a-year criminal enterprise, with an estimated 15,000 to 18,000 victims.

Small Black Hills fire contained after rain

• CUSTER, S.D. (AP) -- Rain helped firefighters gain full containment of the Grizzly Fire in South Dakota's Black Hills.
• Hell Canyon District Ranger Scott Haas says lightning started the fire Wednesday in the Black Elk Wilderness, but two separate rains helped firefighters control the blaze Friday afternoon.
• Haas says horses and mules also helped fire crews by packing tools and supplies in the steep, rugged terrain.
• The fire covered 2.6 acres. Officials say 20 firefighters remained on the site Friday to extinguish burning materials near control lines.

Exhibit examines suicide on SD reservations

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A new exhibit at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport is highlighting the problem of teenage suicide on Indian reservations in South Dakota.
• In 2011, about 200 disposable cameras were given to Lakota children living on reservations to document what hope means to them. Federal statistics show that the rate of suicide among Native Americans is more than two times the national average.
• Project creator Jason Alley says that the project started as a grassroots advertising and social media campaign about youth suicide on the Pine Ridge reservation
