Claremont Recorder
By Beverly Patterson

Another beautiful summer week whizzed by and what a wonderful week it was.  We have several July birthdays in our family but none quite as close together as Mom's and mine.  She spent her birthday 48 years ago in the hospital waiting for me to arrive.  She was pretty sure I was going to show up on her birthday but I had slightly different plans.  I've learned that some of our habits are formed at a very early age, like pre-birth and that's young.  I'd be willing to bet I've been running late many more times than I've been early in my 48 years but breaking habits formed this early would be pretty tough to do!
In celebration of Mom's (Marie Patterson) birthday on Saturday and due to the fact I was going to be away for the weekend, I treated her to supper in Groton on Wednesday night.  Becky treated her to a day of shopping  in Aberdeen on Sunday and a meal out as well and Jr showed up on Monday with a card and gift.  Her birthday celebrations lasted nearly a week and she appeared to be quite happy with the way things worked out.
•   Visitors at Vern and Virginia Swanson's home this past week were Tom and Vanessa Albrecht, Tyler, Abby and Owen, Colorado Springs CO.  During the week they enjoyed several days  at Story Book Park, Aberdeen water park, the Britton pool and the Britton golf course.  Abby entertained  several people at an indoor and outdoor tea party.  Other guests for supper one evening were Kirk and Janelle Swanson, Britton and Dick Veronica and Carter Paulson, Aberdeen.  Shauna Swanson, Carrborro, NC spent part of a day at the Swanson home.
•  On Saturday, July 13
th, the Albrecht's and Vern and Virginia attended the wedding of the Swanson's grandson, Adam Paulson to Katy Durst.  The ceremony was held at the First Methodist Church in Aberdeen.  The wedding reception and dance were held at the Dakota Event Center in Aberdeen.  Other family members attending the wedding were Kirk and Janelle Swanson, Britton, Jim Parkin, Cannon Falls, MN, Barb Ness, Eagan MN., Dorothy Dubs, Huron, Rhonda Dubs, Minneapolis, Kevin and Shelia Dubs, Abby and Brady, Marshall MN.  All of the group stayed at the Holiday Express Saturday night and attended a gift opening the following morning.  Later that afternoon they watched the Aberdeen Smitty's baseball team play Mandan ND at Fossom Field.  Carter Paulson, the Swanson's grandson pitches and plays first base for the Smitty's.
