Stanley's 3 RBI Home Run propels Groton to state

• It was the bottom of the ninth inning. Two outs. No one on base. Groton is behind, 2-0 against Clark-Willow Lake. Then the unthinkable happens.
• Dylan Krueger is walked. Then Drew Planteen hits a single and Krueger goes to third. Planteen steals second. Two outs, runners at second and third. Up to the plate comes Brandon Stanley. He cracks the bat and the ball goes sailing over the fence. It's a three-run home run. "I don't think I can ever remember when we had a walk-off win like that," said Coach Travis Kurth. "Especially in a game of this magnitude."
• The home run gave Groton a 3-2 win and a berth in the State B Tournament. Groton will play Webster in the second night game on Friday. The state tournament is being held in Webster. Groton's record is now 28-7.
• Groton had seven hits in the game with Planteen being three for four at bat. Dalkton Locke had a pair of hits and Stanley had the lone hit--the big home run.
• Parker Rossow pitched for 7 2/3 innings with 11 strike-outs, five walks and two hits. Jamie Jorgensen pitched for one-third inning for one hit and Drew Planteen pitched for one inning with one strike-out.
