Winds down tree branches in Elk Point

• ELK POINT, S.D. (AP) -- Residents of Elk Point have been busy cleaning up after 60 mph winds tore through town Sunday night.
• KCAU television reports that huge tree branches have fallen on and around homes in the town in far southeastern South Dakota. One home, had all three of its vehicles crushed by a giant branch.
• Resident Dan Teply and his family spent most of Monday morning and afternoon cutting up three trees that fell in their yard.

Crop development continuing to catch up

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Crop development in South Dakota is continuing to catch up thanks to warm, dry weather.
• The U.S. Department of Agriculture says in its weekly crop report that farmers and ranchers had on average 6.4 days suitable for fieldwork.
• Winter wheat is 98 percent headed but turning color at 25 percent, well behind the 74 percent average. Winter wheat conditions are 38 percent very poor, 20 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 14 percent good and 1 percent excellent.
• Soybean blooming is at 8 percent, trailing the 21 percent average.
• Corn is 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 18 percent fair, 59 percent good, and 17 percent excellent.
• Pasture and range conditions rated 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 19 percent fair, 56 percent good and 19 percent excellent.

Wyoming woman wins $100K on scratch lottery ticket

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Lottery says a Wyoming woman has claimed a $100,000 scratch ticket prize.
• Linda Forth of Cheyenne, Wyo., bought her winning Smokin' Hot Cash ticket at the Pilot Travel Center in Murdo. The odds of winning the $10 game's $100,000 top prize are 1 in just under 92,000.
• Lottery officials say there is one top prize remaining to be won in the Smokin' Hot Cash game, which launched in March.
