YMCA for about a year. "I've been involved with fitness since high school," Howard said, "so when I seen that this place was for sale, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. It's always been my dream to have my own gym."
• There will be new signs put into place as Howard is changing the name to Howie's Fitness Studio. "We're working on a logo and hope to have the signs up soon," he said.
• Howard takes fitness very seriously. "I would like to introduce personal training to Groton. I think I can help a lot of people," he said. "I have a lot to offer as far as personal training goes. I've learned a lot since high school and I've trained a lot of different types of people - younger high school kids, older folks and people in between." Howard is a certified fitness trainer.
• When he bought Timeless Fitness, the equipment he had out on the farm found a new home at Howie's Training Studio. "I've added a squat rack, bar bell and 300 pounds of weights," he said. "I did some reorganizing to make them fit."
• Howard is currently on a family vacation and will return July 10th. After that, he plans to be on-site from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. "I've looked at the activity logs and that's when most of the people are here," he said. "Having a presence down here is huge - keeping it clean - answering questions - just being available and providing a service."
• While Howard likes to train athletes, he said, "I'll train anyone, but I would like to train some athletes around here. It's good for them to know that I still compete in a sport. I learned it, I practiced it and I put it into application." The size of the studio
