a statement. A weather service team is still assessing damage.
• The storm caused one death. Deborah Larson, 63, of Sioux Falls, was killed when she took refuge in the bathtub at her Lake Poinsett mobile home and winds lifted the home and dropped it to the ground.
• Residents in the region this week are continuing to clean up the storm damage, which might be most notable in the Watertown and Lake Poinsett areas.
• In Watertown, strong winds during the storm toppled trees, taking out street lights, crushing cars and destroying some homes. Officials at the Bramble Park Zoo were able to bring camels indoors right before the storm hit, saving them from being crushed by uprooted trees.
• At Lake Poinsett, where there are homes and summer cabins, residents are still recovering from a previous natural disaster -- devastating flooding two years ago.
• "Over the last few years, some of my neighbors have put countless hours and a lot of money into reclaiming the damage that was there from floods. To have this happen to them is really disheartening," cabin owner Joel Mohlenhoff told KELO-TV.
• Larry Koepke, who rode out the wind storm in his cabin, said it reminded him of an earthquake he once lived through in California.
• "At first I didn't know how bad it was, but all of a sudden my house was going back and forth, (it) felt like my house was weaving," he said.
• Lake Poinsett Area Development Association President P.J. Turner said she and others are now working to get tornado sirens at the lake, though the estimated cost of about $100,000 might be prohibitive.
• "Lake Poinsett is not a city. It is not a government entity, so getting the grants and the money to put the sirens in is expensive," Turner said.
