Former Congressman to give keynote at ag summit

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A former U.S. House member who served on the Agriculture Committee is the keynote speaker at the 2013 Governor's Ag Development Summit.
• Charlie Stenholm will give the keynote address at the Wednesday event. Stenholm is currently a senior policy adviser at a Washington-based law firm.
• This is the fourth year for the Ag Development Summit. The South Dakota Department of Agriculture will update attendees on the progress of recent agricultural initiatives at the summit, which starts at 8 a.m. at the Best Western Ramkota Inn in Pierre. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

1-year-old Nebraska girl found safely in SD

• CHADRON, Neb. (AP) -- Nebraska authorities say a 1-year-old girl who was abducted in Chadron on Saturday has been found safe in South Dakota.
• So police cancelled the statewide alert that had been issued for the girl named Mystery BringsPlenty.
• Authorities say the girl was taken Saturday afternoon from 317 Main Street in Chadron.
• The alert said the girl might have been with a couple driving to South Dakota, and she was found safe there a few hours later.
• Police did not immediately say whether the couple that took the girl will face criminal charges.

Authorities assess damage after deadly SD storm

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Hundreds of people remained without power Saturday after a storm packing 90 mph winds tore through eastern South Dakota the night before, killing a woman and seriously injuring two other people, officials said.
• "We're in cleanup mode now," Hamlin County Sheriff Chad Schlotterbeck said Saturday morning. "We've done checks on all the houses. Everybody is accounted for."
• A 63-year-old woman was killed and her husband was seriously injured after the storm lifted their trailer home on the east side of Lake Poinsett and dropped it to the ground, Schlotterbeck said. The couple's names have not been released.
