Woman who died in eastern SD storm identified

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Authorities have identified a woman who was killed during a storm at Lake Poinsett in eastern South Dakota.
• The Hamlin County Sheriff's Office says 63-year-old Deborah Larson, of Sioux Falls, died Friday night when winds lifted the mobile home she was in and dropped it to the ground. Larson had sought shelter in the home's bathtub.
• The storm damaged or destroyed numerous trees and homes throughout the area.

SD vehicle registration fees increasing

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- The second phase of an increase in South Dakota's vehicle registration fees will take effect on July 1.
• A law passed in 2011 raised vehicle registration fees in two phases. The first took effect in 2011, and the second takes effect this year.
• Money from vehicle registration fees, commonly called license plate fees, is used by counties, cities and townships to take care of roads and bridges.
• Registration fees are computed according to the weight schedules for non-commercial vehicles.
• The new fee schedule can be viewed on the state Motor Vehicles Division's webpage at http://www.state.sd.us/drr2/motorvehicle/index.htm

Boost for cars or bust? Ethanol debate heats up

• WASHINGTON (AP) -- It's a dilemma for drivers: Do they choose a gasoline that's cheaper and cleaner even if, as opponents say, it could damage older cars and motorcycles?
• That's the peril and promise of a high-ethanol blend of gasoline known as E15. The fuel contains 15 percent ethanol, well above the current 10 percent norm sold at most U.S. gas stations.
• The higher ethanol blend is currently sold in just fewer than two dozen stations in the Midwest, but could spread to other regions as the Obama administration considers whether to require more ethanol in gasoline.
