Olive Grove participates in Guardianship Program

• The Olive Grove Golf Course, Groton, is one of 90 golf courses from around the state that participate in the Guardianship Program.
• The Guardianship Program is a private, nonprofit corporation created in 1982 to act as guardian, conservator, or

both, for adults with disabilities in South Dakota.
• Every human being has dreams, goals, hopes, fears, joy, ponderings, peace, anger, torments, and mirth.  Some need others to assist.  For some, no one is there.
• The Guardianship program recognizes the serious responsibilities and impact involved in assuming guardianship and conservatorship.  Persons referred have basic rights and these rights are acknowledged, supported and protected.  Persons receiving services are treated with the respect and dignity due all human beings at all times.
• Persons who have a guardianship or conservatorship are encouraged to assume as much responsibility as they are capable, including actively participating in their own decisions.
• The Guardianship Program seeks to promote quality of life, increase independence, and provide opportunities for development of individual potential.  The program helps in attaining an existence as close to normal as possible for its clientele by making available to them opportunities and accessibility to society.  The Guardianship Program promotes the least departure from the normal pattern of living that can be effective in meeting the person's needs.
