• A wind gust measuring 69 mph was reported just before 8 p.m. in suburban Crystal, the weather service said.
• Amanda Viacara, bar manager at Chino Latino restaurant in Minneapolis, said the sky darkened and "the winds started coming in sideways." She said the rain "was moving from side to side," sending "a lot of people scurrying for cover."
• "We had a lot of people that just decided to sit and relax and enjoy the inside (of the restaurant)," Viacara said.

Ex-Gophers center Iverson worked out by Wolves

• MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Former Minnesota center Colton Iverson is among the top prospects among centers eligible for the NBA draft.
• The 7-foot Iverson transferred from the Gophers and played his senior year at Colorado State, a breakout season in which he averaged 14.2 points and 9.8 rebounds per game while helping lead the Rams to the NCAA tournament.
• Iverson was in a small group of players who worked out for the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center on Friday. The native of Yankton, S.D., was joined by centers Kelly Olynyk of Gonzaga and Mason Plumlee of Duke and forward Christian Watford of Indiana.
• Iverson said after the practice that he's "not the slow slug you saw at Minnesota." He is widely projected as a second-round pick in the draft next week.

Southeast ND, northeast SD hit by strong storms

• FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Heavy rainfall led to swamped roads and farm fields throughout southeastern North Dakota and northeastern South Dakota.
• The stormy weather late Thursday also downed trees and caused power outages in the region. Valley City officials advised no travel as half a foot of rain submerged roads, and Interstate 94 was closed near Casselton for a time. Wind toppled a grain bin onto a car in Clifford, but the people inside escaped uninjured.
• Widespread hail and heavy rain also hit northeastern South Dakota. The National Weather Service says the city of Sisseton set a rainfall record for the date with nearly 2 ½ inches.
• Heavy rainfall earlier Thursday swamped the southeastern North Dakota town of Gwinner and led to the death of a motorist who was swept off an area highway.
