• "With only one representative in the House, South Dakota must have a strong advocate for agriculture," said Sombke. "We appreciate the work of Representative Noem and her efforts to represent her constituents by voting in favor of the farm bill."
• This marks the second time in the last two years that the House has not succeeded in passing a five-year farm bill. The path forward in the House is unclear, as is the future of the farm bill. The Senate has passed its own version of the farm bill and the current one-year extension of the 2008 farm bill is set to expire on Sept. 30 of this year.
