Legion team goes 2-1 at Webster Tourney

• Groton's American Legion baseball team took part in the Webster tournament held this past weekend.
• Groton defeated Clark in the first game, 2-1. Groton held a 2-0 lead after two innings and Clark had a run in the sixth inning. Parker Rossow pitched all six innings, throwing 85 pitches for eight strike-outs, two hits and one walk. Groton scored two runs on five hits and had one error while Clark had one run on two hits and had three errors. Brandon Stanley had a double and a single, Kasey Kurtz had two singles and Parker Rossow had a hit. Kurtz was the catcher.
• Groton defeated Flandreau in the next game, 13-0. Dane Campbell threw 79 pitches in five innings with four strike-outs, one hit and two walks. Kurtz was the catcher. Groton scored 13 runs on 11 hits and had one error. Flandreau had no runs, one run and one hit. Mason Madson had a double and two singles, Parker Rossow had a triple and a single, Brandon Stanley, Kasey Kurtz, Jamie Jorgenson and Matt Thorson each had a double and Dalton Locke and Jeric Albrecht each had a single.
• Garretson scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge out Groton in the championship game, 5-4.  Jamie Jorgenson threw 110 pitches with nine strike-outs, one walk and 12 hits. Dalton Locke had a triple, Mason Madson had two singles and Parker Rossow and Michael Erickson each had a single. Kurtz was the catcher.
