• The South Dakota Community Foundation is handling donations for the $2 million project. Donations now total about $412,000.
• Farrar, 84, who continues to compete in athletic events, is depicted in his statue as striding forward. The lawyer and banker is known for improving education and working on economic development when he was governor in 1969-1971.
• Farrar urged the crowd to treat people kindly and trust them unless they prove themselves unworthy.
• "Treat everyone in this room, in this city, in this country and in the rest of the world as if they are the most important person ever. If we all did that, we'd have a lot less trouble," Farrar said.
• Wollman, 78, became governor for six months in 1978, when as lieutenant governor he got the job after Gov. Dick Kneip resigned to take an ambassadorship. Before that, Wollman had a long career in the Legislature. He helped rewrite constitutional provisions that reorganized state government.
• "I think we have one of the greatest states in the nation," Wollman said. "Its future will be determined by the actions of ordinary people like you and like me."
• Janklow's son, Russell, also spoke to the crowd, noting that his father enjoyed ceremonies for others but shied away from those honoring him.
• Janklow was governor in 1979-1987 and then again in 1995-2003. He cut property taxes, saved the state's rail system and put South Dakota ahead of most states in wiring schools to the Internet.

Sanford beginning AirMed service in Bismarck

• BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) -- Dakotas-based Sanford Health says it will begin its Bismarck-based air ambulance service on Monday.
• Sanford says its AirMed helicopter will provide medical transport to critically ill or injured patients throughout central and western North Dakota, eastern Montana and northern South Dakota.
• The Bismarck base includes a helicopter and a team of flight paramedics, flight nurses, pilots and mechanics. A flight paramedic, flight nurse and pilot will be on duty every day at all hours.
• Company executives, first responders and community leaders launched the service Friday with a dedication ceremony at Century High School.
• Emergency physician Kadon Hintz says time is crucial in emergency and trauma situations, and the helicopter will help doctors provide quick care in locations where
