Digital Bookmobile Tour shines spotlight on technology, literacy

• PIERRE, S.D. - The Digital Bookmobile National Tour (www.digitalbookmobile.com) will showcase the free e-book download service from South Dakota Titles to Go at Rawlins Municipal Library in Pierre on Friday, June 21, and at Watertown Regional Library in Watertown on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at each location.
• At these free events, readers of all ages will learn how to download e-books from the library through interactive demonstrations and high-definition instructional videos. A gadget gallery--featuring Kindle®, iPod® touch,  Android™ tablet, NOOK™, Sony® Reader™, BlackBerry®, Windows® Phone and more--will help visitors discover portable devices that are compatible with the library's download service.
• Library card holders from member libraries can also check out and download
digital titles anytime, anywhere by visiting http://southdakota.lib.overdrive.com/. See if your library is a member by clicking the Participating Libraries tab.
• "This is a wonderful opportunity for folks in the area to come learn about the 'South Dakota Titles to Go' program and experience all the new e-books and resources available through their local public library," said State Librarian Daria Bossman.  "Seventy-seven percent of South Dakotans now have access to new popular fiction and nonfiction through this public library program. We are also using this occasion to celebrate the 100th birthday of the South Dakota State Library.

Legion beats Webster in two games

• Groton hosted Webster Monday evening and won a pair of games in American Legion Baseball.
• Groton won the first game, 9-2. Parker Rossow had a double and two singles, Mason Madsen and Drew Planteen each had two singles, Jamie Jorgensen had a double and Brandon Stanley had a single.
• Matt Thorson was the winning pitcher with seven strike-outs and five hits. Kasey Kurtz was the catcher.
• Groton won the second game, 6-5. Parker Rossow had the only hit for Groton and that was when he was the lead-off batter in the first inning. Otherwise, 12 batters were walked. Rossow was also the winning pitcher and Kurtz was the catcher.
