Claremont Recorder
By Beverly Patterson

• First of all I'd like to apologize for not submitting any news last week.  I checked on the deadlines for submitting news ahead of time because of the holiday on Monday so I would have my bases covered but when I actually sat down to write the news, there was none.  Memorial Day weekend was upon us but not here yet and I had plans but they hadn't taken place and I sat at the computer and then I sat there some more and no matter how hard I tried to convince myself it would be okay if I just made up a bunch of news I knew that eventually my hiding place would be found and what happened after that could be downright scary.  I've learned that people love to be called by their actual name and not one you feel would be more appropriate and I've learned that they do love to see their name in print and that they do love to read about what they did after submitting their news to me so making up things about these people would most likely not have been the thing to do. With that being said I am going to continue with some actual news.
• Yvonne Gibbs returned home last weekend from Lexington Kentucky.  She traveled there with her daughters, Suzie Ogren, Patti Bailey, Lisa  Waletich and granddaughter Rebecca Glade.  They visited Randolph and Andrea Morris, Brittany Waletich and Aarilyn Waletich Silverio and friends.
• Yvonne has another great grandchild, Katelyn Yvonne Gibbs.  Her parents are S.SGT William and Lauren Megan Gibbs.  Baby Kate has a two year old sister, Emma Grace.  Their proud grandparents are Brett and Lora Gibbs.
• If you've been around for the fireworks display in Claremont the past two years then you are aware of how incredible it is and why it's happening again this year.  The crew hired to put on the display does an amazing job.  They not only set the sky on fire with brilliant sparks of every color, they also add music to the mix and it's nothing short of fantastic.  If you'd like to make a donation towards this display it can be sent to First State Bank @ 602 6th Ave in Claremont or to Shane Johnson @ 403 4th Ave, Claremont SD 57432.  If you make your donation soon it can be used for this years' display but any funds received after the order is placed for this year will go into the fund for next year.  This event will be held at the ballpark in Claremont on June 29th.  There will be a potluck supper with the meat provided prior to the fireworks and a DJ on hand to entertain after the show.  Mark your calendar now and plan to be in Claremont on June 29th!  We'd love to see you at this annual event.  You won't be disappointed that you came!
• I am sure that almost every one of you did something during the nice long Memo
