• Burr! Who turned the heat off this morning?
• After I was done delivering papers, we headed into Aberdeen for a pair of soccer games. Jeslyn has one at 9 a.m. and Julianna had one at 10:30 a.m. Then in a little bit, we had back to Aberdeen for a 4:30 p.m. game for Julianna.
• It was downright cold outside as the wind was blowing, it was 49 degrees and it was misting out from time to time. I must have heard the comment, "This is June weather?" several times.

• The whole weather pattern has been turned upside down, but I think for now, it would be safe to say we are not in a drought. As of today, we are about .20 of an inch above normal for precipitation. The high temperature in May was 91.4 degrees, the low was 20.9 and the average temperature was 56.3 degrees, about five degrees cooler than normal.
• I just texted Kami Lipp to find out if the swimming pool was open. They actually did open it for a couple of hours, but no one showed up, so they were closing it up and going home to warm up. The lifeguards that worked were freezing! I think Julianna and Jeslyn would have gone to the pool today if they didn't have soccer. They were already asking if it would be open tomorrow. Hopefully, the wind will not be blowing so it will be more tolerable.
• Do you realize that the Groton Daily Independent was launched in July of 1999. It's hard to believe that this year will mark our 14th anniversary of the GDI and the start of our 15th year. It was a storm that blew through Groton on July 12, 1999 that sparked the beginning of the GDI. The storm hit Saturday, a special on-line edition was published and on Monday, July 14, 1999, the GDI was officially launched.
