• "When you look at the machine that's happening there at Oregon, building the new field, putting $10-$15 million into the facility there for baseball, the backing of 3,000-4,000 fans. Then you look at Rice, who has won a national championship, who has had major league players, who has had great players, who has a hall of fame coach," said Dons coach Nino Giarratano. "There's two Hall of Fame coaches there with George Horton and Wayne Graham. So when you look at the caliber of coaching that's going to be there and the quality of players, it's going to be a very tough regional."

Rapid City workers claim $10K Powerball prize

• PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- A group of 14 co-workers from a Rapid City business have claimed their $10,000 Powerball prize.
• South Dakota lottery officials say the workers, known as the "Auto Auction 14" of Black Hills Auto Auction matched four of five white ball numbers and the Powerball to win the game's third prize. The odds of winning are about one in 649,000.
• Powerball is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot sits at $40 million for the next drawing on Saturday.


Officials unveil details for drone technology park

• GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota officials kicked off a conference on unmanned aircraft systems Thursday by touting two proposals they say would make the state a global leader in civilian drone research and training.
• The first one is a technology and business park known as Grand Sky, which would be the largest industrial complex in North Dakota and provide instruction for pilots, sensor operators and maintenance workers. Backers of the plan expect to finalize a contract for the facility in the next few weeks.
• The state also is bidding against 25 applicants to become one of six national un
