• Fifteen people were recently charged in federal court for a Jamaican-based scam that targeted victims in the Dakotas. Purdon said he was hoping the publicity surrounding that indictment would be a wake-up call to residents, but it hasn't seemed to make a difference.
• The list of at victims in that case includes an 83-year-old woman in North Dakota who sent seven separate checks for nearly $158,000, after she was promised a prize of $19 million in cash. A South Dakota man allegedly sent a $14,000 cashier's check after he was told he won $3.5 million and a 2012 Mercedes.
• Stenehjem said there's no way to know the total number of victims in the region.
• "We know these calls are coming in by the thousands," he said.
• Stenehjem and Purdon had the same advice to people who get calls from people telling them they have won a lottery or sweepstakes.
• "Hang up," they said.

Wild Card 2 ticket sold in Sioux Falls worth $6K

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A Wild Card 2 ticket sold in Sioux Falls is worth $6,000 in the latest drawing.
• South Dakota lottery officials say the ticket matched all five white ball numbers but missed the Wild Card to win the game's second prize in the Saturday drawing.
• The odds of winning it are one in about 127,000. The winner has about six months to claim the prize.
• Wild Card 2 is played in the Dakotas, Montana and Idaho. The jackpot sits at $250,000 for the next drawing, on Wednesday.

Dakota Wesleyan head men's hoops coach resigns

• MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) -- Dakota Wesleyan head men's basketball coach Shane Murphy has resigned to take a job with a medical company in Sioux Falls.
• Murphy coached the Tigers for three seasons, compiling a 53-41 record. Before coming to Dakota Wesleyan he coached at the University of Sioux Falls from 2001-2008 and then took two years off from coaching to work for a financial company in Sioux Falls.
• Murphy tells The Daily Republic newspaper that returning to the private business sector is better for his family.
• Dakota Wesleyan says in a statement that a committee will be formed immediately to search for Murphy's successor.
