1960: A tornado touched down about 7 miles northwest of Roscoe and destroyed a small shed near a country schoolhouse. Funnel clouds were also observed in Hosmer area, near Eureka, and 30 miles West of Aberdeen. An unofficial report of 4 inches of rain fell at Hosmer.

2008: A supercell thunderstorm produced seven tornadoes in Dewey County. Since these tornadoes remained in open country, all were rated EF0.

1979: Eastern Germany was swept by a major tornado outbreak, including an F4 that hit near Brandenburg.

1981: An intense storm dropped ten inches of rain in four hours and produced catastrophic flooding in Austin, TX, resulting in 13 fatalities and $35 million in damage.

1990: In Barton County, KS a 100 yard wide F3 tornado blew 88 rail cars off the tracks and stacked them 3 and 4 high. One survivor was sucked out of her truck said she was "airborne, trying to run but my feet would not touch the ground!"
