Former lands commissioner hired by contractors

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Former state School and Public Lands Commissioner Bryce Healy is becoming the executive director of an organization that represents South Dakota building contractors.
• The Associated General Contractors of South Dakota Building Chapter represents more than 200 general contractors, suppliers and service firms in the state. It works on legislation, governmental relations, workforce development and other issues.
• Healy was the state commissioner of school and public lands in 2003-2007. After that, he was executive director of the South Dakota Education Association, the state's main teachers union.

Athletic training program joins regional exchange

• BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- South Dakota State University's master's-level athletic training program is joining a regional exchange.
• The exchange will qualify students from participating states for the resident tuition rate.
• The Western Regional Graduate Student Exchange includes: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
• The program offers about 275 programs at 52 participating institutions. It gives students access to master's and doctoral degree programs that are of demonstrated quality and not widely available in the western region
• Regents officials say South Dakota is able to recruit additional graduate students from other states into programs where there is capacity, and in-state students gain the opportunity to pursue specialized programs elsewhere that are not available in South Dakota.

Tribal nonprofit names new program director

• EAGLE BUTTE, S.D. (AP) -- A nonprofit organization for children on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation has named a new director for youth programs.
• The Cheyenne River Youth Project has announced that Tammy Eagle Hunter will
