Garage fire in Sioux Falls leads to power outage

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A fire that began in a detached garage in Sioux Falls led to an electrical power outage that affected six homes.
• Investigators say the Tuesday night blaze damaged four garages, a wooden fence and a van, and spread to an electrical pole and power lines. Xcel Energy crews restored power to all but one of the homes, where further repair work is needed.
• The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.

Sioux Falls police probe attempted kidnapping

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- Police are searching for a man they suspect tried to kidnap a 17-year-old girl outside a Sioux Falls mall.
• Authorities say the girl was walking in the Empire Mall parking lot late Monday morning on her way to work at a mall restaurant when a man in a car stopped next to her, made small talk and then grabbed her and tried to force her into the car.
• The girl was able to free herself, run away and call police.
• Authorities are reviewing the mall's surveillance video.
