Record Breaking Cold and Snowy April

• This past April was in the top five coldest on record across central and northeast South Dakota and west central Minnesota.  Record to near record snowfall was also reported.  The information below contains additional monthly records from this past April.
Aberdeen…
• The average HIGH temperature in Aberdeen was 45.4 degrees.  This ranks as the second coldest of all-time coldest.  April 1950 is the coldest with an average HIGH temperature of 45.3 degrees.  The warmest is 68.6 degrees set back in 1895.  The average LOW temperature in Aberdeen was 24.3 degrees which broke the previous record of 25.5 degrees set in 1956.  The warmest average LOW temperature is 39.1 degrees set in 1915.   The average temperature was 34.9 degrees this past April.  This broke the previous record of 36.0 degrees set in 1950.  The warmest average temperature is 53.4 degrees set in 1915.  Lastly, Aberdeen saw 21.8 inches of snowfall which ranks second behind the 24.4 inches set in 1970.  There have been a few months of April in which no snow was reported.  The last one was in 2012.
Kennebec…
• The average HIGH temperature in Kennebec was 53.7 degrees.  This ranks as the fourth coldest all-time.  April 1995 is the coldest with an average HIGH temperature of 50.9 degrees.   The warmest is 72.3 degrees set back in 1955.  The average LOW temperature in Kennebec was 26.1 degrees which ranks as the second coldest all-time.  The current record is 25.8 degrees set in 1956.  The warmest average LOW temperature is 40.3 degrees set in 1977.   The average temperature was 39.9 degrees this past April which ranks as the coldest all-time.  The warmest average temperature is 54.5 degrees set in 1981.  Lastly, Kennebec saw 24.0 inches of snowfall which ranks second snowiest of all-time.   The snowiest April is in 1995 when 45.5 inches fell.  There have been a few months of April in which no snow was reported.  The last one was in 2012
Pierre…
• The average HIGH temperature in Pierre was 49.2 degrees.  This tied as the all-time coldest.  April 1950 is also the coldest.  The warmest is 68.7 degrees set back in 1981.  The average LOW temperature in Pierre was 26.0 degrees which broke the previous record of 27.4 degrees set in 1956.  The warmest average LOW temperature is 40.5 degrees set in 1941.   The average temperature was 37.6 degrees this past April.  This broke the previous record of 40.0 degrees set in 1956.  The
