chance to weigh in at the ballot box on two ALEC inspired ideas last year with the Republican legislature's teacher reform bill and Governor Daugaard's corporate giveaways, and voters rejected both handily.
I am joining all Democratic legislators in rejecting your tax dollars for ALEC dues and any and all opportunities to travel to ALEC conventions. When we can't afford to invest in our students and our property taxes are increasing, we can hardly afford to turn legislators into frequent fliers for ALEC conventions on the taxpayer dime.

•  I certainly enjoyed the weather this past weekend and I hope you did too.  I didn't rake or pick up branches like I could have but I've learned that sometimes, you just have to take a breath and soak in the goodness and not let yourself be distracted by all the things that need to get done.  I figure if I would have done some things that were perhaps more productive it might have told Mother Nature that I didn't think she would give us another weekend like this and I wouldn't want to offend her.  I do sort of think this past weekend was her way of saying she was sorry for all the unpleasant surprises she brought our way earlier in April. It's good we're tough and resilient....it's too bad she's aware of this!    
On Saturday evening April 27th Russell Crosby smoked and served the wild hog meat harvested during the Texas Hog Hunt earlier this year.  Texas Hog Hunters Dave Traylor and Don Wegleitner were also there to enjoy the meal and share stories from their wild and crazy adventure.  I've heard a few things about this hunt and how thankful one of them was that their Texas friend was a gifted photographer.  If you should happen to see some of the pictures from the trip just remember, things aren't always exactly as they might appear!  
• Grandma Bonita Edwards and Great Grandma Ann Bailey traveled to Marshall MN this past weekend.  They went to see the new little edition to their family, Christa
