• Tribal Council member Ron Brown Otter says the governor will meet Thursday with Tribal Chairman Charles Murphy, other council members and the public in Bullhead, a town in the reservation's Rock Creek District.
• Brown Otter says the governor will tour the site of a proposed school and some of the businesses started by the community. He says the community has started a cattle operation, welding business and a hunting lodge in an effort to provide jobs. Brown Otter says tribal officials are interested in discussing a collaborative effort to build housing in the area.
• The Standing Rock Reservation straddles the South Dakota-North Dakota border.

SD Health Department issues new WIC guidelines

• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- The South Dakota Department of Health has released new WIC Program income guidelines.
• The U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded special supplemental nutrition program provides food at no cost to eligible moms, babies and children.
• The new guidelines are based on 185 percent of the federal poverty level. That means $21,257 for a single person or $43,568 for a family of four.
• The WIC Program's goal is to help improve health by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, offering education on healthy eating, nutrition and breastfeeding, and making referrals to other services.

May Day snow storm hits Colo., Wyo., Midwest

• DENVER (AP) -- People in parts of Colorado and Wyoming pulled puffy jackets, hats and umbrellas out of the closet again Wednesday for another round of wet spring snow.
• The May Day snow storm was making travel difficult on some Colorado highways, where several crashes were reported late Wednesday, and along Interstate 80 in southeastern Wyoming. Denver's airport reported about 50 flight cancellations, and other flights were delayed for de-icing.
• By midday, more than a foot of snow had fallen at Rocky Mountain National Park. The heavy snow caused power and heat outages there and in Cheyenne, which received 15 inches of snow by noon Wednesday. West of Cheyenne, 20 inches fell near Buford, while Casper saw 4 inches of snow.
