• SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A 28-year-old inmate has been charged with aggravated assault against a Department of Corrections employee after a guard attack at the state penitentiary.
• The South Dakota Attorney General's Office says Cpl. Zane Mathis was hospitalized April 20 with a broken jaw and facial cuts after he was punched several times in the head.
• Authorities say Carlos Rapheal Green, of Sioux Falls, is charged as a habitual offender, which could bring a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Green is serving more than 40 years for Brown County convictions that include aggravated assault.
• Twenty-four-year-old Garrett Austin Dumarce, of Sioux Falls, faces with one count of aiding, abetting or advising aggravated assault against a Corrections employee, which carries a maximum sentence of 50 years with the habitual offender status.
