Last day of school now May 22

• Groton's last day of school has been extended to May 22, decided the Groton School Board members on Monday. The extension is due to the recent missed days. Classes will dismiss on Wednesday following lunch. Teachers will finish out the day.
• Business Manager Mike Weber reported that the school district has received 18 inquiries into the superintendent position with 13 completing the application. Superintendent Laura Schuster has requested an extension of her contract. She is currently in contract negotiations with a school district in Minnesota.
• Once school is out, roofing repair will gear up. Both Grote Roofing and Twin City Roofing have been in to look over the situation with the roof over the '68 addition of the high school. Major leaks are still showing up by the band room, stage, home ec. and science rooms.
• Mike Nehls, head custodian, reported that Grote Roofing said "The roof needs to be redone, or you'r just patching time after time."
• Once the bid proposals are in, the board will make the decision as to what will be done this summer.
• The Lake Region Marching Band Festival may soon be marching through town.
