McIver's" if you will. We were busy looking to learn about potential energy and kinetic energy. They enjoyed this project thoroughly. They raced all the way down to the top three finishers. They are currently studying plants and cells with Mr. Schmit and growing their own little projects in class
•  We are eagerly sailing into new areas in Social Studies. We are presently looking at the various explorers that dared the impossible to land on this great continent. We are currently studying all the countries that claimed land here in search of religious freedoms and those that had a prevalent part in making the first colonies.  After that we head off to battle with England to gain our independence and become our own country.
•  The kids have really started to toot their horns this quarter, literally. Our students started partaking in band. They are bussed over to the High School everyday except Friday to spend time with Mrs. Jensen. They have really been excited about band this year.
•  We will again be starting DARE this fourth quarter. The kids always are interested in this as Officer Mayou and Officer Cleveland come into the classroom and talk to the kids about making strong decisions in their lives. This is very important as they head off to middle school. We all know that choices are very important in living a healthy life. The graduation date for DARE is currently set for May 14th. The kids will also take a field trip to Aberdeen for DARE to visit the JDC with our officers.
•  We will be traveling to the historic Ft. Sisseton on May 15th this year. The kids always love this trip and get to see a real good hands on look at what life was like during the early pioneer day's right here in South Dakota. It is always a fun and exciting trip for the kids.
• We just finished up the Dakota Step test and will be patiently awaiting our results. We have a great group of kids in the fifth grade class and will be excited to see how they tested again this year. We expect that they will have rocked the test. We have some great incentives that should have helped them stay focused throughout their test.
• times a week for the entire month of March. This will run throughout the entire month until graduation on a date to be announced.  With everything going on at this period of the year, we will continue working hard to pump our kids and prepare them for the Dakota Step test coming in April. We have a great group of kids in the fifth grade class and are excited to see how they test again this year. Bring it on!
